The Adonis blue is an iconic butterfly of the South Downs, with the male butterfly having brilliantly blue wings. Often found during the summer months, flying low over sheltered southern slopes of close-cropped chalk grassland, where it will take nectar from any one of the flowering plants. However, which plant does the Adonis blue butterfly favour as its caterpillar food plant for laying eggs?
